Kendra L. Marien, LICSW

Kendra L. Marien is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of clinical and academic leadership in behavioral health. She has directed treatment services for substance use and mental illness across inpatient, residential, and emergency psychiatric settings — including a minimum-security correctional program for women and their children — and much of her career has been spent with people under court, probation, or agency mandate: she directed a clinical assessment unit for court-involved youth, served as Clinical Director of a residential treatment program funded by the Massachusetts Department of Correction, and oversaw clinical work under a federal pre-trial services contract.

Kendra designed Courseable's live anger management curriculum: twelve self-contained two-hour sessions built on SAMHSA's cognitive-behavioral anger management model, written so that a student can join at any week and still leave every class with a skill they can use. She has taught at UMass Chan Medical School since 2018 and has taught addiction counseling at Worcester State University, UMass Boston, and Westfield State University. Her clinical and academic practice has been largely virtual since 2020.
