What this course is NOT: This course does not qualify you for a Florida Concealed Weapon License or a Class "G" security license — Florida law (§790.06) requires live-fire training in an instructor’s physical presence for those. This course is for court, probation, and diversion requirements (and anyone who wants a serious safety education).

Who takes this gun safety course in Florida

These are the charges and conditions Florida courts most often attach a gun safety or firearm safety class to.

§790.10
Improper exhibition of a firearm
Showing or waving a gun in a careless, angry, or threatening way — even without firing it — is a first-degree misdemeanor in Florida.
§790.15
Discharging a firearm in public
Firing a gun in public, over an occupied home, or recklessly on residential property is a crime — up to a felony if fired from a vehicle.
§790.174
Unsafe storage around minors
Florida law requires loaded firearms to be locked or securely stored whenever a child under 16 could reach them.
§790.22
Minor in possession
Juvenile cases carry mandatory community service and detention; judges and diversion programs frequently add a safety course.
§948.03
Probation & diversion conditions
Florida judges may attach a firearm-safety class to probation, and State Attorney diversion programs set education conditions circuit by circuit.

Since July 1, 2023, Florida no longer requires a license to carry concealed — but permitless carry didn't make careless carry legal. Prohibited places, improper exhibition, public discharge, and storage laws all still apply, and those are the charges Florida courts order classes for.

Needed to take a gun safety course for court and was worried about finding one that would actually be accepted. Courseable made it simple. The content on safe storage and the four cardinal rules was really well done. My court accepted the certificate with no issues at all.

T

Terri

I'm in California and was glad this course included a module on CA firearms laws. A lot of the other courses I looked at were super generic. This one covered the assault weapons rules, storage requirements, and waiting periods that are specific to my state. Very thorough.

J

James

Took this for a court requirement and honestly went in expecting to just click through it. But the instructor clearly knows his stuff — the modules on safe storage options and ammunition types were surprisingly practical. I actually learned things I'll use as a gun owner.

C

Carlos

Filing from Florida and this was the only course I found that covered Stand Your Ground and Florida-specific carry laws. Most other online courses are one-size-fits-all. Finished in one afternoon on my phone, certificate was instant, and the price was fair. Court accepted it right away.

N

Nicole

Super easy to use. I did the whole gun safety course on my phone during breaks at work. The safe storage module was really informative — I didn't know there were so many lock options. Had my certificate downloaded the same day I started. Great experience.

R

Robert

Good course for the money. The federal firearms laws module was especially useful — I didn't fully understand the Brady Act or NICS background check process before. You also get state-specific modules included at no extra charge, which none of the other courses I looked at offered.

D

Danielle

What sold me was the money-back guarantee if the court doesn't accept it. I was nervous about doing a gun safety course online but the court acceptance guarantee gave me confidence. Finished the 4-hour course in one sitting, got my certificate, and my attorney submitted it with no problems.

Questions & answers

Everything you need to be sure

Will a Florida court accept an online gun safety course?

Courts across Florida accept online completion; the decision sits with your judge, PO, or the State Attorney's diversion program in your circuit. That's why we back every certificate with a money-back guarantee and a letter to your court if ever needed.

Unsure? Send us your order wording first and we'll help you confirm.

My court order says 'firearms safety course' — is this the same thing?

Yes. Courts and statutes typically write 'firearm safety'; most people say 'gun safety.' They're the same class — our certificate documents the course content and hours, which is what your court is checking.

How much does a court-ordered gun safety class cost in Florida?

$49, certificate included. No "free course" with a surprise $90 certificate fee at the end.

How fast can I finish?

The course is 4 hours of instruction, self-paced. Finish in one sitting or across several days; your certificate downloads instantly on completion.

Is there an online class for Florida concealed carry permits?

No. Florida law requires live-fire training in an instructor’s physical presence for a CWL. This course is for court and probation requirements, not a carry license.

My order says a specific number of hours.

Our standard course is 4 hours. If your order specifies more, contact us before enrolling and we'll set you up correctly.

How does my probation officer verify the certificate?

Every certificate carries a unique ID your PO can check on our verification page, and we can provide a syllabus and instructor-credential sheet on request.

Who teaches the course?

Jeremy Poole, Certified Firearms Instructor (NRA Pistol Instructor) and former Senior Probation Officer with 13 years in law enforcement.

§790.174 Storage around minors

§790.22 Minor in possession
Minors in possession face mandatory community service and detention; safety courses are a common court add-on.
§948.03 Probation conditions
Judges may attach a firearm-safety class to probation; diversion terms vary by judicial circuit.
